I thought I’d make a grand entrance to introduce Arcane Cyber, LLC, a cybersecurity consulting company in Northern Virginia. I, like you, am one of the 30.2 million small businesses that make up the U.S. economy. Having worked in the cyber domain for over 7 years, I have seen the evolution of information security threats to individuals and companies, and Arcane Cyber is here to help you defend your systems and valuable information.
I chose the name Arcane Cyber because “arcane” is defined as “known or understood by only a few”. The industry is filled with experts who understand cybersecurity, but cater to large businesses with deep pockets who can spend millions on security products. However, half of the U.S. GDP is driven by small businesses that don’t have access to services and experts. This is evident at many trade shows as the products are outsized, over-priced or unavailable to small businesses.
“Arcane” doesn’t imply that you can’t know the mysteries of cybersecurity and how malware affects computers and information systems. The reality is, small business owners don’t have the time and resources to dedicate to become an expert in cybersecurity.
I started Arcane Cyber to support the small business community. Computing system are complex, and the threats to them have never been greater and continue to grow. Consider that 43% of cyber-attacks are aimed at small businesses; we are all squarely in the crosshairs of criminals looking to capitalize on the inability for most companies to keep up. I will periodically be blogging to provide an educational resource focused on information security topics relevant for individuals and small business.
